Role Profile

Trailstone is looking for candidates with a deep contact book with corporates throughout Europe, in order to build a business around the increasing demand from corporates for renewable power to meet their ESG targets. In particular, the candidate should ideally have executed or be able to execute the following deal structures:

  • Transactions involving longer-term management of balancing risk from renewables where corporate offtakers and or renewable generators lack the relevant route-to market infrastructure.
  • Building up a pipeline of renewable PPAs (financial/physical) for corporate off-takers, and thereby leveraging Trailstone’s strong network of renewable generators in Europe.

We would ideally like this candidate to be based in our Berlin office, but are open to individuals who wish to be primarily located elsewhere in Europe.


Team Profile

The Power Origination team is charged with rapidly expanding Trailstone’s renewable optimization business and closing profitable structured transactions that feed the trade floor’s appetite for risk.  Trailstone is a highly quantitative trading company with an international presence. 

The Origination team is small but leverages members of trading, structuring, credit, legal, and quant teams. Origination team members need to have a broad skill set, willingness to dive into all deal aspects, and an ability to work in multiple regions simultaneously. Trailstone’s international footprint creates unique opportunities to collaborate and contribute globally.



  • Customer outreach and long-term deal origination.
  • Analysis of customer needs and market dynamics to create profitable structures.
  • Interface with quant and structuring team to understand and challenge analysis.
  • Ability to negotiate with counterparties.
  • Ability to negotiate with internal stakeholders.
  • Project management, including the frequent need to properly mobilize internal resources and drive deals.
  • Coordinate customer meetings, calls, and internal deal reviews.



  • A deep contact book of European corporates.
  • Knowledge of renewable power offtake structures and other structured products.
  • Strong understanding of Power markets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate customer needs and market analytics into deal structures.
  • Understanding of the Front Office structure to help align and influence deals.
  • Able to creatively solve credit, legal, and other operational roadblocks.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory and policy trends.
  • Gas, REC, CO2m and other market knowledge is strongly desired but not essential.
