Role Profile

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your IT career within the world of renewable energy trading and technology?

We are looking for candidates at graduate level or similar, with strong proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL), to join our team. As a Junior Application Support Engineer you will provide comprehensive front-line support for all applications related to business operations, ensuring best practice is applied to system support, upgrades, testing and procedures. You will have the opportunity to get involved in providing best-in-class Level 1 and Level 2 support, developing your skillset over time to get involved in more complex system issues and project work.

The role is required to work on a shift rota which includes working weekends, bank holidays, and nights.

Currently we are in a strong growth phase and are working on building a world class product to help us scale and bring renewables to many more power markets in the world, while trading many more smaller electricity assets. What will you do?

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve all system issues including custom inhouse software and vendor solutions.
  • Effectively record and monitor progress of all issues raised, providing feedback to the business users as required.
  • Liaise with internal and external IT teams to resolve cross system issues.
  • Ensure that best practices are applied to system support, upgrades, testing and procedures at all times.
  • Manage cases, requests and enhancements using existing tools and processes.
  • Ensure that solution and application support documentation is maintained to the highest quality and accuracy.

  • To be a proactive, pragmatic problem solver with a strong bias for action.
  • To be accountable and own issues through to resolution.
  • To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage in effective, direct communication across different levels of seniority with colleagues globally (for example, trading desks and development team members).
  • To have a positive, team-oriented mindset, with an appropriate balance between autonomy and knowing when to ask for help.
  • The ability to adapt skillset to varying tasks, demonstrate flexibility, and assimilate knowledge quickly.
  • Domain knowledge in finance or energy business sector is not essential, but an interest in developing expertise in these areas is a must have!


Technical Skills

  • Proven ability to work with Structured Query Language (SQL). Working experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot scripts/applications in different languages such as .Net, C#, Python, VBA etc. Working experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Potential to understand business environment and processes, with training and development.
  • Potential to provide workaround resolutions, root cause analysis and major incident management, with training and development.
  • Fluent English language skills.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
