Role profile

Trailstone is searching for a highly skilled and experienced business manager to join us onsite in our Austin, Texas office as a Business Manager. This role will partner closely with commercial and support teams to drive day-to-day execution across the trading and renewables services businesses in the region.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in a mid to senior-level business management / COO role for a trading business, with knowledge and experience of US physical power and gas markets and financial trading.

This role provides broad exposure within an international company engaged in energy trading, renewable energy management and technology, and includes an attractive compensation package and bonus scheme.

 

What will you do?

You will partner closely with the North American businesses and global support functions including Technology, Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Credit and HR to execute Trailstone’s business plans successfully.

You will ensure that all aspects of the business are working well, take the lead in resolving day-to-day issues, and coordinate and drive the execution of business development plans. 

 

What do you need?

  • A degree in business, engineering, science, mathematics, or similar discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing an energy trading operation – both its day-to-day running as well as front-to-back delivery of technology and process change. Your experience must include having worked as a COO / business manager for a trading business.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial commodity markets, futures clearing, and physical power and gas markets.
  • Good working knowledge of the US financial and energy regulatory frameworks, and the procedures required to comply with them.
  • Strong project management skill and experience: able to manage multiple projects and coordinate effectively across functions, with a track record of driving complex change implementations across large teams and organizations.
  • Skilled in communicating clearly, concisely, and effectively in a structured way - verbally and in writing - to convey complex information simply, clearly and accurately.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy is a plus.
