About the role

As the compliance officer you will act as the main interface for the Trailstone North American business on Compliance matters. You will manage a variety of daily tasks, including advising the business on CFTC, FERC, CME, ICE, ISO’s, NERC and SEC rules, onboarding new counterparties, responding to regulatory requests, monitoring trade and communication surveillance activity, and delivering compliance training to the global business.

You will be part of a global team of professionals working to create a best in class compliance department and compliance culture in the energy industry. This role will be based onsite in our Austin, Texas office but we are also open to candidates who are willing to travel frequently to Austin.

 

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for all Compliance matters in North America.
• Provide compliance advice and assistance to the business and support functions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all due diligence (KYC) requests.
• Carry out due diligence on third parties.
• Assist with the onboarding of new joiners and offboarding of leavers.
• Develop and conduct Compliance training.
• Review and advise on new business transactions
• Assist with monitoring and clearing trade surveillance alerts.
• Assist with monitoring of internal communications to ensure they are in line with Trailstone Compliance Policies.
• Assist with the collection and preparation of presentations for monthly and ad-hoc meetings.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory requests, inquiries and audits – CFTC, FERC, CME, ICE, ISO’s, NERC and SEC
• Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings.
• Ensure that all compliance policies and procedures are appropriately documented, updated and available for reference.

 

Requirements

• A University degree in Business, Law, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• 5 or more years of experience in a compliance role, or other similar capacity in the energy industry. 
• Good understanding of CFTC, FERC, CME, ICE, ISO’s, NERC and SEC rules.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective Internet and research skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Fluent English language skills (both written and verbal). Other language skills are desirable but not essential.
