About the Role 

We are looking for an accomplished Communications and Marketing Specialist to coordinate and deliver Trailstone's global communications and marketing strategy, based in our London office.

Trailstone is rapidly growing, and this is a pivotal moment in the development of the company. As such, we are seeking our first hire to manage all internal and external communications and marketing, to help position Trailstone as a trailblazer in the world’s transition from conventional to renewable energy. 

This person can expect to receive a generous salary and bonus package, commensurate with their talent and experience. We are fully supportive of a hybrid working pattern, with several days (2-3) per week in the office.

This will be a full-time permanent role, owning the following responsibilities & key focus areas: 

  • Build and execute an effective communications and marketing strategy to deliver clear, consistent messaging across all channels, ensuring alignment with Trailstone’s branding, mission and values.
  • Assist the global business development and origination team to raise their profile within the industry and deliver the company’s core messaging.
  • Captivate our audiences by developing persuasive and engaging blog posts.
  • Raise the profile of the CEO and other members of the senior leadership team, supporting executive communications.
  • Public Relations focus: Manage key media relationships across major business, financial, and trade publications. Serve as a media spokesperson as required. Monitor news stories and decide on when and how to engage. Drive and execute on the company’s public relations strategy to build awareness and excitement about Trailstone with customers, key stakeholders, and the media. Develop press releases, execute media pitches and manage 3rd party public relations consultants.
  • Social Media focus: Build an engaged following on social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Help develop our employee engagement tool to amplify news across the social networks.
  • Internal Communications focus: Lead internal communications in collaboration with senior management and HR, including developing content and copy for companywide meetings and communications. Ensure employees are kept informed of organisational news, announcements and activity across multiple channels and tools, and help to develop a values-driven and communicative culture.

  

About You 

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in the energy sector and be able to work independently as the stand-alone Communications and Marketing lead, whilst developing strong collaborative relationships across the business. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following: 

Requirements:

  • Substantive internal and external communications and marketing experience in the energy sector, ideally with multi-country presence and with an understanding of energy transition issues. Experience within a stand-alone communications or marketing role is preferred but not required.
  • Specific experience working with a variety of social media platforms, and demonstrable experience in building followers and engagement. Able to raise the external profile of a business through earned media coverage, speaking engagements and other high-visibility activities.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to deliver complex and technical messages in a clear and compelling way, across a variety of channels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage in effective, direct communication across different levels of seniority with colleagues globally.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise tasks and consistently deliver high quality work, balancing a strategic approach with day-to-day priorities.
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to build internal and external networks generating content leads, and an engaged following among key journalists & media outlets. 
  • A highly analytical, logical and detail-oriented working style. Able to analyse and manipulate data.
  • Mission-driven with a strong desire to transform the way we power our world through the deployment of new technology.
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
  • Ability to act consistently as a team player; with willingness to get stuck into tasks outside of usual remit where needed.
