About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Business Project Manager to join Trailstone’s growing Chief Operating Officer (COO) function, based in either our London or New York City offices. This role will partner closely with various business lines and supporting functions to help deliver the firm’s business plans and manage the day-to-day running of the firm from a commercial, operational and corporate perspective. To succeed, you will need to partner effectively with colleagues in the COO team, product and project managers in Technology, and managers from business lines and other support functions.  Establishing trust and credibility with colleagues and senior management across Trailstone’s offices will be critical to enable effective communication and collaboration and help you develop or influence prioritisation and project success.

It is highly desirable for candidates to have substantive experience in a business management / COO function involving delivery of business and technology change in a global financial markets or commodity trading business.

  • Leading the annual business planning process.
  • Co-ordinating with colleagues in relevant delivery functions (in particular, Technology) to construct and maintain a detailed, realistic business delivery plan for the short to medium term.
  • Understanding Trailstone’s business, systems and teams in order to be able to assess what each new business initiative entails, understand resource requirements and availability, dependencies and timelines.
  • Determining project priorities - and reprioritising them - to balance short-term tactical demands with delivery of strategic priorities.
  • Providing regular status reporting to senior management and key stakeholders on delivery of the business plan.

Business change management:

  • In partnership with the global and regional COOs, driving specific projects which require input or leadership from the COO function.
  • Providing front-to-back co-ordination and support across the business and supporting functions to establish common understanding, draw out risks and issues, and help drive projects forward towards successful delivery.
  • Undertaking business process analysis, project management and hands-on resolution of issues.

Skilled in:

  • communicating accurately, clearly, concisely and in a structured way (written and verbal), including at the executive level. This needs to include a strong ability to communicate technical topics to a non-technical audience and to communicate business needs to a technical audience.
  • collaborating effectively with all personality types to get the best out of people.
  • working out pragmatic solutions to problems, including deconstructing problems, prioritising issues, structuring analysis, identifying implications and proposing solutions.
  • leveraging virtual cross-functional teams to deliver business priorities.
  • leading meetings with cross-functional partners to align stakeholders and drive execution.
  • formal project / programme management qualifications are nice to have.
