Role Profile

Trailstone is looking for a Real Time Meteorologist to join our team in Berlin, Germany. This role reports to our Head of Weather Analytics and will work hand-in-hand with our team of shift traders and portfolio managers in support of proprietary power trading and the management of renewable power assets. This is an excellent opportunity to play a role in a live trading environment in a weather-driven market.


What will you do?

  • Interpret meteorological data in real time to formulate short range forecasts and nowcasts for Central and Western Europe.
  • Proactively identify and alert energy traders of impactful weather events.
  • Interpret weather forecasts and events in terms of their effects on renewable generation and electrical power demand.
  • Participate in the development of weather data-enabled software tools to support manual and automated daily trading.
  • Educate traders on weather and be available for questions.
  • Deliver concise, understandable, and accurate forecasts.


What do you need?

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Meteorology or related field.
  • Flexibility to adjust your work schedule for availability on days when weather is critical.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and aptitude for solving new problems.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including fluent English language skills.
  • Strong technical/programming experience is a plus (Python preferred).
