Role Profile

As a Data Visualization Engineer, you will develop interactive visualizations of Trailstone’s financial, meteorological and infrastructure data to enhance our Renewable Energy and Trading platforms.  You will work closely with business and technical groups to understand their visualization needs, and you will develop and integrate solutions with Trailstone’s technology platform.  You will co-ordinate with other technology team members to ensure best practices are followed in Trailstone’s data presentation.

 

What will you do?

  • Work with development, research, and business teams to present data for technical and non-technical users.
  • Develop and refine data visualizations in both proprietary applications as well as commercial or opensource visualization and reporting tools.
  • Translate complex data and analytics into a human readable visual format for rapid business decision making.
  • Integrate and transform data from SQL and other sources to ensure consistent and accurate display of Trailstone’s data.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Substantive working experience developing and implementing performant, scalable, and secure data visualization and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience developing dashboards in Tableau or Grafana.
  • Experience with open source data visualization technologies and frameworks such as Apache Superset, Plotly, Python, or R.
  • Experienced in manipulating SQL data for visual presentation and for use with applications and analytic processes.
  • Proficient in programming with Python or C#.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience working with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Presto) is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with data science and machine learning analyses is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with web development is desirable but not required.

 

Additional Skills

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to develop and present conclusions and recommendation to senior executives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with independent deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary, global team.
  • Fluent English language skills.
