Trailstone is currently experiencing a phase of growth, and we are pleased to announce an opening for a Midde Office Analyst (Trade Operations) in our Austin office at South MoPac Expressway.

 

About the Role

The successful candidate will be joining our global Trade Operations team as a Midde Office Analyst. Our Trade Operations team is at the heart of our organization, and a key supporting function to our Energy trading desks in North America, Europe, the UK and most recently in Japan. Based in Austin, this Middle Office Analyst will be focused on our North America operations, gaining valuble exposure to both Power and Gas traders on-site. This role will also benefit from the shared pool of commodities knowledge across the international colleagues within our global operations, and will have ad-hoc opportunities to provide support to wider operations outside the core focus of North America. 

This will be a full time position and, due to how closely this role will collaborate with our on-site Trading desks, this position does require working on-site in our Austin TX office 4-days a week, with flexibility. Key responsibilities of this position include

  • Interracting with Traders, Analysts, Risk & Accounting teams to hone a full front-to-back understanding of our commodities business. 
  • Daily reporting on Position and PnL, as well as PnL analysis (T0 Flash and T1 EOD results). 
  • Daily reconciliation between system of record and broker statements. 
  • Being a go-to person for data and analysis, regarding various portfolios and trading strategies. 
  • Collaborating with our Accounting team to understand and present economic value reconciliations and walk-throughs. 
  • Working closely with your global Trade Operations colleagues to collaborate and align on processes. 
  • Supplement other team members through cross-training, providing coverage during scheduled and unscheduled outages.

 

About You

We are seeking a collaborative professional, experienced with traders and trading operations, and genuinely motivated to work in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will possess at least 4 of the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics, or the equivalent experience. 
  • Over a year of experience in a role directly supporting power and gas trading. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills. 
  • Proficiency in SQL & Python. 
  • Proficiency in Excel.
