Carbon Compliance Market Fundamental Analyst

About the Role 

We are looking for a Carbon Compliance Market Fundamental Analyst to join us on-site in our growing NYC office. This role will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of Traders (Environmental, Power & Gas), Regulatory Affairs, and other Fundamental Analysts.   

In this role you will make a vital contribution to our suite of fundamental analytical tools, which includes S&D analysis, statistical analysis and the application of machine learning where appropriate.   

This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities: 

  • Providing analytical support and expertise on the main Carbon ETS programs globally. 
  • Developing S&Ds for various Emission Trading Schemes, staying on top of regulatory changes and analyzing their market impacts. 
  • Working closely with our fundamental power & gas analysts for emissions assumptions. 
  • Working with our technology team to develop and maintain models and dashboards that forecast and visualize opportunities and risks for trading strategies.   
  • Providing ad-hoc analyses for the trading desk, origination and asset management. 
  • Performing scenario and sensitivity analysis to determine portfolio risks and opportunities. 

 

About You 

This person will be a self-starter with the ability to design and execute complex analysis with minimal guidance. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following: 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (i.e., Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Finance). 
  • Experience in fundamental Supply/Demand modelling, preferably in Emission Trading Schemes in Europe and the US. 
  • Significant amount of tangible experience as an Analyst in EUA and/or CCA programs. 
  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL. 
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing internal and external environment. 
  • Proven track record of project ownership and driving results. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. 

Other Desirable Attributes: 

  • Experience with Policy and its effects on Carbon Markets. 

 

Remuneration

This role is offering the following salary on a full-time basis: $120k-200k per annum.

Please note that an individual's pay may vary and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. In addition to this salary, we offer a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package which includes, but is not limited to;
