Regulatory Affairs Analyst, Environmental Markets

About the Role 

We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Analyst, Environmental Markets, to join our growing European team, based either in our London or Berlin offices. This role will be taking the lead in assisting our Environmental Products business to assess and understand the relevance of laws and regulations applicable to the marketing and trading of Environmental Attribute Certificates (“EACs”) and carbon credits issued by Emissions Trading Systems (“ETSs”).  

In your role you will work closely with our Fundamental Analysts, Traders and Business Development & Origination teams to identify potential commercial and strategic opportunities that may arise from proposed changes in laws and regulations.  Where relevant, you may also be required to engage with trade bodies, industry associations, regulators, advisors and consultants to help shape the outcome of such proposals. 

This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations applicable to EACs and ETSs across the globe. 
  • Advise the Environmental products team and other key stakeholders on the application of existing laws and regulations relating to the marketing and trading of EACs and ETS carbon credits. 
  • Assist the Environmental products teams to identify and assess potential developments of regulation and market design across environmental markets. 
  • Asist in the analysis of new markets and products. 
  • Establish a business network and connections with other regulatory affairs professionals. 
  • Interface with regulators, trade bodies, industry associations, advisors and consultants to promote Trailstone’s position and help shape the outcome of changes to laws and regulators. 
  • Provide regulatory subject matter expertise to support business activities. 
  • Assist with the development/updating of policies, procedures, and business practices to ensure alignment with new regulatory compliance requirements. 

 

About You 

This person will be a proactive and pragmatic problem solver with a strong bias for action. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following: 

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant experience working in environmental markets. 
  • Practical knowledge and tangible experience of advising on the trading or marketing of environmental products in Europe or North America. 
  • Experience engaging with regulators, trade bodies, industry associations and advocating on behalf of clients. 
  • Strong, articulate communication skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Resilient under pressure; able to remain calm and effective when faced with multiple requests or demands at the same time. 
  • Fluent English language skills. Other language skills are desirable but not essential. 
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
