West Basis Trader, Natural Gas

Austin Office | On-site | Full-Time Role 

 

About the Role 

We are looking for a West Basis Natural Gas Trader to join our growing Austin office. This role will sit within the Trailstone North America Gas Team and work closely with the Trailstone North America Power Team. This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities: 

• Act as an expert in the West basis markets and Aeco 
• Manage own limits in terms of VaR and P&L under the overall desk limits 
• Develop trading strategies to capture fundamental PoV in West markets 
• Work with Analysts and other traders to further enhance our modelling and fundamentals 

  

About You 

This person will be highly knowledgeable and experienced in Western power markets, with a passion and strong interest in weather and meteorology.

In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following: 

Essential Skills: 

• Extensive experience trading west basis markets 
• Experience working collaboratively on trading teams 
• Programming experience (preferred but not essential)

• Strong commercial acumen 
• Analytical and highly numerate, with acute attention to detail 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment 
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to engage in effective, direct communication across various levels of seniority globally
