Junior Information Security Analyst

About the role 

We are looking looking for a Junior Information Security Analyst to join our growing security team. This role will sit in our Austin office, supporting, implementing, and managing security solutions as well as support our lines of business. This role is primarily responsible for supporting Trailstone’s security team by managing security tasks and alerts that are fed through multiple sources. This role will also have a heavy focus on security research and identification for threats and vulnerabilities. 

This role will be working on a global infrastructure security team including a technology stack that includes Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, AWS, Active Directory (on-premise and Azure AD), and Microsoft/Office 365. 

The role is 80% security/support and 20% operations/support requiring an individual willing and able to take the lead in researching and integrating required security solutions end to end while being able to juggle operations/support requirements.  

We are looking for candidates with a technical background, who are driven to solving security problems, with strong attention to detail, and who have a willingness to learn and adapt. 

This will be a full time role, owning the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities 

• Respond and investigate alerts and notifications from security applications. 
• Assist with patch management and security hardening of corporate assets.
• Perform vulnerability analysis and research on emerging threats. Work with the security team to uncover asset vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with SOC to quickly respond to security events and alerts. Triage level 1 security alerts and escalate level 2 events to senior security team members as needed.
• Detect, respond, mitigate, and report on cyber threats and incidents through Trailstone’s enterprise EDR/IPS solutions.
• Investigate potential social engineering attacks and work with security team to develop security training measures to circumvent phishing attacks. 

About You:

This person will be joining a high performing IT team specifically responsible for the security of the infrastructure environment and ensuring maximum availability of existing services in both production and business continuity environments. In addition we are looking for somebody with the following:

Requirements 

• Previous experience working in Information Technology and Helpdesk. 
• Previous experience securing endpoints and familiarity with security hardening best practices. 
• Knowledge of Windows server and desktop operating systems, networking fundamentals, peripherals, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Office 365. 

Preferred, but not required 

• Security Certification(s): Sec+, CySA+, CCNA, GISF, GSEC, etc.
• Experience managing Antivirus, Host Intrusion Prevention Systems, Endpoint Detection and Response solutions.
• Experience with Enterprise level Vulnerability/Pentest solutions.
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, CIS, NIST CSF, C2M2 etc.)
• Experience as a Security Analyst or similar role.
