Power Fundamental Analytics Manager, North America

About the Role 

Trailstone is looking for a Power Fundamentals Manager to join us on-site in our Austin, Texas office. The selected candidate will operate under the direct supervision of the Head of North America Power Trading and will be responsible for managing a team of three power fundamental analysts. 

This will be a full-time position, with the following responsibilities:

  • Manage, train and a team of power fundamentals analysts to deliver high-quality analytics.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data related to the power markets including supply, demand, congestion, nodal pricing, regulatory changes, and market design.
  • Responsible for managing power flow models and supporting their application across different business units such as the Power Term, Congestion and Short-term Trading desks as well as Portfolio Management Team.  
  • Utilize quantitative methods to develop forward-looking views on market fundamentals such as renewable build out or generation/transmission outages .
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as traders, quantitative analysts, meteorologists, originators, and technology professionals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.

 

About You

This position will play a pivotal role in supporting our US trading desks and renewable asset management business. As such, we are looking for someone with the following attributes and tangible experiences:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience as a fundamental analyst in the energy industry.
  • A background working in banking or utility sectors.
  • The ability to work with software development teams, aiming to deliver business intelligence and automation solutions effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Set Yourself Apart with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline; e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Finance or Engineering.
  • Experience with renewable generation.
