Senior Middle Office Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Middle Office Analyst to join our growing global Finance team, based in our London office. This Analyst will be focused on our UK & European trade operations for Gas & Power markets as a priority, whilst providing ad-hoc support to our North American Trade Control team.

As a hybrid role, there is an expectation to average 3-days per week working on-site in our London office. You will find our office on 2 London Wall Place, in the City. This is a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities:

  • Performing daily P&L reporting and analysis (T0 Flash and T1 EOD results). 
  • Performing daily position reporting and reconciliations between system of record and broker statements. 
  • Interacting with Gas & Power trading desks, risk teams and global counterparts to have a full front-to-back understanding of our commodities business, ensuring process alignment.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for trader queries and escalations in Europe, for Gas and Power markets across the UK and EU. 
  • Working with the Accounting team to understand and present economic value reconciliations and walk-throughs. 
  • As the Senior Analyst, acting as a mentor within your team, providing cross-training where needed and ensuring coverage during scheduled and unscheduled outages. 

 

About You

This person will be an experienced trading operations professional, and collaborative by nature. Though our trading activity is focussed on multiple energy assets, we particularly welcome applicants with a strong power background as a primary focus of this role. As a Senior Analyst within the team, we also encourage applicants with prior exposure to, or interest in, mentoring and team leadership. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following:

  • Tangible experience with European gas & power markets.
  • Prior working experience supporting commodities trading desks directly. 
  • Degree, or equivalent knowledge, in the fields of accounting, finance, economics, or similar. 
  • Strong analytical and data management skills. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python. 
  • Proficiency with Excel.
